Alexander Avataggelos decides to explore the possibilities of his homeland, Tinos, when it comes to wine. At 600-700 meters above sea level, on a sandy basically soils with good drainage and unusual for the Greek dense planting, cultivating Mavrotragano Santorini with stunning results.
This is a unique wine, with dark, almost impenetrable, purple color. On the nose aromas of development is impressive with concentrated black fruit reminiscent of dark berries and plum, to alternate with lovely anthikotita, reminiscent of violets and lavender. The barrel 'gives' sweet wine bacharenia elements such as vanilla and licorice, with hints of tobacco and coffee, contribute to the complexity of the 'bouquet'. In the mouth the wine has volume, tannins have a velvet dimension, the fruit continues to have tension and high density. Clearly the long aftertaste, for which someone is prepared there and strengthens the qualitative dimension that wine possesses.
The high quality features and collectible value of Clos Stegasta, which is very difficult for someone to secure the cellar, warrants the most of the premium price.
