In 1879, Lars Olsson Smith introduced continuous distillation, through which he produced Absolut Rent Brännvin (Absolut Pure Vodka). Instead of being distilled three or four times, the vodka underwent countless distillations. 100 years later, it resurfaced as ABSOLUT. Just like back then, ABSOLUT is produced in Åhus, Sweden, the birthplace of Lars Olsson Smith. Even the place where the wheat is grown has evolved. Since the way ABSOLUT is produced is not going to change, neither will the true taste of the vodka. The main ingredients of ABSOLUT VODKA are water and winter wheat. The water comes from a deep well in Åhus, which protects it from pollutants. The winter wheat is also grown in Åhus and differs from other crops: it is sown in the fall and harvested the same period the following year. It grows under the Swedish snow, developing its hard kernels. The use of fertilizers is also limited.
