Across from Medoc, which produces the most famous wines of Bordeaux, the slopes of Blaye on the right bank of the Gironde river yield some of the best Merlot with an outstanding quality to price ratio. Attractive, deep ruby color, nose bursting with Merlot fruit, ripe, red, reminiscent of plum and cherry liqueur, along with the characteristic caramel of the variety and beautifully integrated sweet oak spices. Chocolate, minerality, and herbal hints complete the palate. Extremely attractive on the palate, generous, with warm alcohol, full body yet retaining the freshness of acidity. The fruit is crunchier, tannins are intense yet juicy, with a lingering finish and freshness. Ready to drink but has at least five years ahead to evolve.
