The brewery Spaten - Franziskaner has a rich history just like the weiss beers it creates. Based in Munich, it established this distinctive fruity, vitamin-rich, and easy-to-drink category of Weiss in 1397. By 1867 it was already the largest brewery in the city, in 1992 its production reached 1 million hl and in 1997 it merged with Lowenbrau. A few years later, in 2004, it became a member of the strong brewing industry InBev. Despite changes in ownership and partnerships, it has retained the name Franziskaner in the weiss beers, which means monk. To attest to this, a monk has been featured on the label since 1909. Franziskaner Weiss are proven to be the most popular Weiss beers.
