Gaja Barbaresco 1.5lt 2017

Barbaresco is the flagship wine of the GAJA winery, produced continuously since 1859. 14 owned vineyards are located in the municipalities of Barbaresco and Treiso, with an average age of the vines being 50 years. The land covers 21.4 hectares and is at an altitude of 250-330 meters above sea level. The grapes from each vineyard undergo separate fermentation, maceration, and aging in oak barrels for 12 months. They are then blended and aged further in oak barrels for an additional 12 months. The Nebbiolo variety is particularly influenced by the small differences found in the various soil types. The blend of grapes from the 14 vineyards emphasizes the characteristics of the different terroirs and creates a complex and balanced wine. An expressive aromatic profile, with red fruits and flowers taking center stage, and delicate spices and mineral notes coexisting in the background. The structure is dense yet elegant and has a prolonged aftertaste with refined tannins, which captivates. Each GAJA Barbaresco is the faithful expression of the vintage and is suitable for long-term aging in the bottle.
