A small quantity of grapes from the Rennina and Sugarille vineyards is blended with grapes from the 9-hectare vineyard in Torrenieri, in the northeastern region of Montalcino. The soil in Torrenieri is a mixture of clay, volcanic ash, and sand, while the soil in the Rennina and Sugarille vineyards is clayey and limestone. The grapes from the different vineyards are fermented and extracted separately for about three weeks. After 24 months of aging in oak barrels, they are blended and then aged for another 6 months in concrete tanks. Brunello di Montalcino has a deep color, an expressive nose, with notes of cherry, aromatic herbs, flowers, and juniper taking the lead. On the palate, it reveals ripe tannins, balanced acidity, rich structure, and a long finish.
