The name Camarcanda comes from a phrase in the Piedmont dialect, which translates to 'house of endless negotiations' and refers to the many discussions Angelo Gaja had with the previous owners of the land with the aim of purchasing it. After many meetings, Gaja acquired the land in 1996. The vineyards are planted in white soil rich in limestone, clay, and stones. The composition of the soil critically contributes to the structure and complexity of the wine. The two varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, are fermented and extracted separately for about 15 days. After 18 months of aging in oak barrels, they are blended and then aged for another 12 months in the bottle before being released to the market. An expressive wine, with a beautiful aromatic profile, with notes of flowers, red fruits, and roots, characteristic of Mediterranean plants predominating. On the palate, rounded, with a dense texture, soft tannins, and notable mineral character. Nice lingering finish.
