In 1753, Antonius Cramer began brewing beer which was sold by him and his descendants in the Warstein area. However, 1802 was disastrous as a fire destroyed everything at the brewery, which was rebuilt from scratch. Today, the brewery's space, known as Domschänke, is a historic and visitable site. Warsteiner is among the top four best-selling beers in Germany. It is known for the hot air balloon festival it holds every year and is the official beer of the German airline Lufthansa, while also supporting various sports events such as football in Germany. It is still managed today by the Cramer family.
