In 1793, pharmacist Antoine Amedie Peychaud introduced bitters to the market. Bitters were helpful for ailments and thus began to be used in the pharmaceutical field. However, in addition to medicinal use, Antoine Amedie Peychaud also used them in combination with cognac as a welcome for his customers. This gave a more complex and distinctive flavor to the Cognac.
