Amazing Cabernet Sauvignon that comes from old vineyards in the region of Messinia at an altitude of 700 meters, grown organically and with low acreage yields. Cabernet Sauvignon is a grape from France, but it has found suitable soil in the vineyards of Messinia, expressing all its varietal characteristics very nicely.

Its color is deep ruby. Its aroma is complex with dark fruits such as raspberries, spices and tobacco in the foreground, followed by notes of nuts, vanilla and butter. Its taste is exuberant, with noticeable tannins, with the fruit appearing more mature and reminiscent of jams, while its finish is durable and spicy.

Costa Navarino is not only an investment aiming to make Messinia a world-class tourist destination, but also to promote the tradition, history and products of this terroir. Wine could not be omitted from this effort, since viticulture and wine production are an integral part of the Peloponnesian and Greek identity.

The Navarino Vineyards have acquired 123 acres of old vineyards, yielding extremely low quantities of grapes. The age of the vines, the poor soils and the climate of the area, along with the refreshing influence of the Ionian Sea, create a unique microclimate which guarantees the production of high quality wines.

The Kotyle selection is at the top of the range of Navarino vineyards, using only the best vineyards, with a strict selection of the barrels. The red Kotyle blend is predominantly made by Cabernet Sauvignon, a grape variety which albeit its French origins is cultivated in the area for more than forty years. Vinification as well as 18months maturation took place in new French oak barrels of 225L, in contact with the lees. A wine which reflects the typicity of the variety, and its unique intensive character.

The 2011 Red Kotyle is ready to drink now but is predominantly a “Vin de garde” and can evolve for the next 15 to 20 years. It is the ideal partner for great quality red meat, as well as for yellow, hard but not very salty, cheeses.
