The talented Nikos Karatzas, founder of Oenops, tours all over Greece and creates wines from different terroir and varieties. This time it 'stops' in Limniona, one of the most rising Greek varieties and in Thessaly. 80% of the wine fermented and aged in clay amphoras, while the rest in large barrels. The result is an excellent wine with purity of fruit and baccarat, but in limited quantity!

The relatively difficult to varietal wine Kotsifali here gives us an excellent and award winning wine red with sheens, aromas of red fruit and jam, subtle tannins and good acidity, rich but gentle flavor and good taste.

A different and extremely charming expression of Xinomavro where most of it is kneaded with the native yeasts in concrete tanks and the rest in open barrels, while after mixing it matures for several months in amphorae. The grapes come from selected vineyards in the three areas where the variety grows, Naoussa, Amynteo and Rapsani. It is a wine that focuses on the purity of the fruit, the freshness but also the gentle tannins and is bottled unfiltered.

For those who find complex, alcoholic, red wines 'tiring', Spyropoulos' Orino (mountainous) will delight with its relatively light body and pleasant fruity character. The season of the year does not play a role in this wine, since it is easy to drink both in the summer, when the temperatures hit 'red', but also in the winter, when its blend of Syrah-Agiortiko takes on the task of 'warming' you up.

Elegant, silky, Pinot-like character, with freshnessand low-alcohol levels are the main characteristics of Limniona grape. Christos Zafeirakis is a young talented winemaker exploring the limits of this rare and up-coming grapevariety.

Two Aegean varieties, Mandilaria and Mavrotragano, combine their talents and offer us a delicious and easy-to-drink red wine from Santorini, at a price rarely found on the island. After all, it bears the signature of one of the country's most prestigious producers.

The New Age Limniona Zafeiraki is an organic wine with intense red color, aromas of red fruits such as cherry, sour cherry and plum with distinctive botanicals. Balanced body, full of good acidity and silky tannins.

Route 111 is an old country road that connects Nemea and Aegialia, the regions where the two great red varieties of the Peloponnese, Agiorgitiko and Mavrodaphni, thrive. Here, the varieties create in equal proportions a complex blend of vineyards at high altitudes of these regions, giving a complex wine with fresh fruit and concentrated flavor. It is bottled unfiltered.

At the Akratos winery in Halkidiki, they pay particular attention to the Greek varieties, so Xinomavro, the largest red variety of Northern Greece, could not be missing from their portfolio. Here we have a very affordable dimension of the variety that focuses on fruit and well-crafted tannins. A juicy Xinomavro that can be enjoyed fresh but also has the potential to get old for many years.

Limited production wine from the Agiorgitiko variety produced without the addition of sulphites with a very good price-quality ratio. A very elegant and velvety red wine from vineyards in Nemea that stands out for the purity of the fruit and its fresh character. It suits both winter and summer meals.

Muchtaro is a rare red variety from the region of Central Greece and owes its existence to the Domaine Muses from Askri Thebes. This is the only Mouchtaro varietal wine in the world, and it is fruity, soft and 'serious' at the same time, proving that the variety has potential and is expected to give much more in the future.
