Dimitris Mansolas and Maria Tamiolaki, two excellent winemakers, created Hetero Wines in 2018 with the aim of producing ‘diverse’ wines from various regions of Greece. Here we have a rare combination of two great indigenous varieties, grown in the plain of Domokos and kneaded with native yeasts. The tannic character of Xinomavro is tamed with just 8% Assyrtiko, with the acidity of both varieties being at high levels, while at the same time the wine impresses with the intensity and freshness of the fruit.

A wine that captures the beautiful harmony of the varieties involved in the blend, with the "scientific" approach to red winemaking, from which it arises. A tag-school in red wine, which "kaparose" quickly established itself among the most popular Greek red wines in the domestic but also in overseas market.

Lawrence Hartman makes excellent white and red wines in the boutique winery in Amyntaio, but rightly bears the title of specialist in sparkling. The third series of the hit in the category of sparkling wines made with the traditional method, combines Assyrtiko and Xinomavro in proportion 60-40 and characterized by tremendous freshness, intensity and elegance.

The revival of the vineyard Rapsani and the establishment as one of the most important in Greece is mainly due to Tsantalis Winery. The Grand Reserve is the leading expression of Rapsani, produced only for the very best vintages in limited quantities. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels and 18 months in the bottle, acquiring extremely rich character and robust structure and can comfortably be aged for at least a decade yet. It is no coincidence that it is amongst the 100 best wines of the world for 2015 by Wine & Spirits.
