Here Alpha Estate delivers masterful use of drum lessons , with elements of wood to highlight the characteristics of the variety , leading to a large, 'varelato' Sauvignon Blanc from the Greek vineyard.
Its color is lemon green with golden highlights. In the nose is extremely complex with fresh flavors such as melon, pear and citrus fruit, to tie the plant components and supplemented with those of the oak as vanilla and nuts, but with subtle yeast notes from staying with the wine mud. In the mouth it is rich and oily with lively acidity brings balance. In taste fruity elements compete with vanilla, while making their appearance and some mineral notes on the finish. The wine shows that Greece can provide world-class Sauvignons.
Region / Location / Vineyard:
Amyndeon plateau. Amyndeon viticulture zone. North-western Macedonia. "Children’s" & "Alpheta" sub-regions. 69ha of Linear, privately owned vineyard situated at an altitude of 620-710m.
Vinification Method & Maturation:
Skin contact under inert atmosphere at low temperature, controlled alcoholic fermentation in fine grain, medium toast Vosges oak barrique casks with regular stirring. Maximum 7 months following vinification in the same oak casks.
Tastings Characteristics:
Brilliant light yellow color with greenish hints. Intense and rich nose, typical of the variety, with citrus, passion fruit, honeydew and hints of oak. Full mouth, creamy, with excellent balance, freshness and finesse. Persistent after taste aromas with long finish.
Harmony:
White meats in rich creamy sauces by themselves or with pasta, smoked fishes, raw shell fish and crustaceans. Fish platters, grilled fishes.
