Wonderful expression of Assyrtiko from the unique terroir of Santorini with the signature of Gaia, a pioneer producer of the island. The fruit comes from a rare century-old vineyard, which has given the wine a shocking taste depth, complexity and nerve. It is definitely one of the top whites, not only in Santorini but in all of Europe.

Dimitris Mansolas and Maria Tamiolaki, two excellent winemakers, created Hetero Wines in 2018 with the aim of producing ‘diverse’ wines from various regions of Greece. Here we have a rare combination of two great indigenous varieties, grown in the plain of Domokos and kneaded with native yeasts. The tannic character of Xinomavro is tamed with just 8% Assyrtiko, with the acidity of both varieties being at high levels, while at the same time the wine impresses with the intensity and freshness of the fruit.

After Epanomi, Kavala and Ilia, Vangelis Gerovasileiou and Vassilis Tsaktsarlis arrive in Santorini where they meet the oenologist Ioanna Vamvakouris and create the Mikra Thira winery, the first attempt made in Thirasia. This is a stunning wine made from 100% Assyrtiko grapes from Santorini that reflects all the characteristics of this unique terroir. Sharp acidity, structure, minerality, citrus and saltiness!
